GREEN POOL
A green pool is usually a sign of an active algae bloom, but it can also be caused by chemical imbalances or metal oxidation.
Common Causes
•Algae Growth: This is the #1 culprit, typically triggered by low chlorine levels, poor circulation, or high water temperatures.
•Chemical Imbalances: High pH levels (above 7.8) make chlorine ineffective, allowing algae to thrive even if chlorine is present. High Cyanuric Acid (CYA) can also "lock" chlorine, rendering it useless. High CYA is anything above 85PPM with a normal rand of 30-50 PPM.
•Poor Filtration: If the filter is dirty or the pump doesn't run long enough (at least 8–12 hours daily), debris and spores stay in the water.
•Metals & Pollen: Oxidized copper or iron can give water a green tint without the sliminess of algae. Heavy pollen counts can also cause a yellow-green hue.
